Peter and the Starcatchers Discussion
This blog will allow us to share our thoughts and ideas about what we are reading in Peter and Starcatchers. It will also be a place which allows us to communicate with other classrooms as well. Remember that your answers on here need to be in RAD format and need to have evidence from the text to support them. I want to see you thinking critically and pushing yourself to go beyond the obvious.

We all know that Black Stache is one of the villains, the antagonists in the story. There is so much more to his character though besides being evil. What are some of his character traits? Make sure to use TEXT EVIDENCE to support the traits you choose.

The traits of Black Stache are smart because he knew that if the treasure wasn’t on the Wasp then it would be on the Neverland. He knew that it couldn’t be on any other ship so he went after it. Then when he was going to the Neverland they disguised themselves as British Naval officers so that they wouldn’t be recognized as pirates. Black Stache is also sneaky. The crew on the Neverland assumed that the Wasp was coming to rescue them from the storm, but really Black Stache tricked them, he was after the trunk. This is sneaky because even after the ship was warned by Molly they still looked like British sailors in their stolen uniforms.
DeleteI think three of Black Stashes character traits are he is always very rude to everybody. “Smee you idiot!”He also is rude by trying to make Lennard Aster jump off the ship. He is also really cleaver. He took over the Wasp and he also through lots of water off the ship to make it go faster to catch the Wasp.Last he is very very greedy he took over the Wasp because he thought the trunk was on the Wasp and he really wanted the trunk.Those are his three other character traits

The character traits for Black Stache are first he is clever.I think that because when the trunk wasn't on the Never Land ,he knew that there must have been a swap with trunks.That is why I thought he is clever.Second is bossy because when he was trying to catch the Wasp , he was yelling orders at Smee I thought he was bossy.Third is determined because since we met him in the book,he has always wanted to get the star stuff(the trunk).that tells me that he is determined.these are all of the character traits that I found that fit well for Black Stache.
ReplyDeleteOne of Black Stache’s character traits besides being evil is being wise or clever. The reason I think Black Stache is wise/clever is because he had first, captured the Wasp. That ship was one of the best ships afloat, and still Black Stache managed to capture it. Black Stache is also greedy. First when he captured the Wasp he managed to get the trunk (which was full of sand) and the ship and he still wants the treasure on the Never Land. Last, Black Stache a known but in a bad sort of way. I think this because he is known as the baddest pirate on the sea by all the captains of all the ships, including the Wasp.

The traits of Black Stache are that he is smart because when he was battling the Wasp he had a choice to either go after the dori or take over the Wasp. But he was so smart that he shot a torpedo to get the dori and he toke over the Wasp. That is why I think that he is smart. I also
think he is greedy because he would've not gone after the Wasp if there was no treasure. That is why I think he is greedy. Those are the traits of Black Stache greedy and smart.
ReplyDeleteSome of Black Stache’s character traits are smart, strong and recognized. He is smart because he makes good plans that nobody, not even Smee think will work but they do, like throwing the water overboard people thought he was crazy but it made the ship go faster and they won the battle. He’s strong because not many things get to him, and when he has plans that everyone calls stupid and that they’ll never work but he still will go with them. He is recognized because when Slank says Black Stache everybody will cringe and everybody knows his name and who he is. Black Stache may be evil but there’s a lot more to him then that.
Character traits of Black Stache
ReplyDeleteI have many character traits for Black Stache.Here are three of them.First I think he is cold hearted,he is cold hearted because he wants to steal the magic trunk full of star stuff.When it wasn't rightfully his.I also think he is greedy because he wants everything for himself.And he thinks he is the best in everything and always bosses everyone around.I also think he wants people to have pain.Because he attached his ship the Wasp to the Never Land to get to the trunk.He is also very clever, he found a way to get to the trunk by torching people.
Black Stache is more than just a villain, he is also a captain. I know this because in the story,

I also found out that he is also one of the most clever pirates on the high seas.When the authors say he’s the most feared pirates, they mean scary,but the authors also mean the most clever pirate as well. He is also very cold hearted, I think Black Stache is cold hearted because he is always taking other peoples ships and well killing people. That is what I know about Black Stache.
Black Stache is a horrible person but there is so much more to him. Here are some of his character traits. His first character trait is that he is a very filthy man. For example his old “dorm” on the Sea Devil had a half eaten turkey on the table and when Smee and the other man walked in they were plugging their noses. His second character trait is that he can be a very smart man. For example when he took over the Wasp and found out that the Trunk was on the Never Land he took the Wasp’s crew and took their Uniforms put the uniforms on and “took over the Never Land. Those are Black Stache’s character trait’s.
ReplyDeleteA: He is smart because when he was trying to get the Wasp he threw all of the heavy objects off the ship so they would go faster. And also after they got the wasp he told his crew to put on the english uniformes so when they went to get the Neverland they would think it was captain Scott. The 2nd character trait he has is he is bold. Like when he went to get the Wasp and the Neverland he was not scared to face their crew.
ReplyDeleteI think that Black Staches character traits are that hes always discouraged because he is a bad guy and bad guys are suppose to be discouraged.I also think another character trait is he is humiliated because he has to work with Smee and Smee is idiotic.Another character trait for Black Stach is untrusted.He Is untrusted because bad guys lie a lot.These character traits are for Black Stach.
DeleteBlack Stache has many character traits ,but here are some or a few of them .He is clever because when he took over the wasp from his very eval plan,by luring Molly's dad and imprisoned him etc.....Also he is powerful because or how is he took over 1 ship is trying to take over another.Plus he has his own crew. well another is that he never gives up because he has 100 crewmen and plans to get more.Also he won't give up trying to be the fastest and the most worshiped pirate and most feared on the 7 seas.Last he is a fighter , he fights and fights till he will get what he won't like the ships.Well those are a few character traits about Black Stache.
ReplyDeleteQuestion 1:Some of Black Stache’s character traits are furious, want’s to find a treasure ,and wise because he got the Wasp. He was disguised as one of those London uniforms to think that there from the Wasp.So the Neverland are getting tricked by Black Stache.A reason why he’s furious is that he got the Wasp and now he is getting more furious about getting the Neverland.An example that the crew is not working well is when Smee saw Slank but he really didn’t know if he was Slank and Black Stache is furiuos about his crew not working very well.
ReplyDeleteIn the book Peter and the Starcatchers, Black Stache is the villain but he is more than just a villain. Some of his character traits are: He is determined because he was trying to be quick about getting the treasure and getting out before the storm hits .Black Stache is also clever because he threw most of the water overboard to go faster. [Except when he threw 2 men overboard. They could've helped him. ] Those are 2 of the character traits I think go with Black Stache .

ReplyDeleteI think Black Stash is a violin because Black Stash is attacking the Never Land and trying to steal the greatest treasure set to sea.I think Black Stash is brave,clever and bossy.Black Stash is very bossy because he tells everyone what to do.He is brave by attacking the Never Land in a big storm.Black Stash is clever by using the Wasp to attack the Never Land.
I think that Black Stache’s character traits are mean, pouty,temperamental, and much much more. I think Black Stache is mean because he tries to steal the Starstuff from the Starcatchers. If he uses it he will be even more powerful/evil than he already is. He also was holding his pistol to Slank’s head for information and yelling at him, instead of just asking where it is. Black Stache is pouty when he yells at Smee “Not now.” He yells at him to dump out the water, he is never in a good mood. He is temperamental because he was excited to take over the Wasp, but was then in a bad mood when he couldn’t find the trunk. His mood changes a lot.

First ,he is clever because when he wanted to get the fake trunk and the Wasp he came up with a plan in two seconds. Second,he is deadly. I say that because he is always talking about how he is so bad like he broke out of prison.Third, he is determined to do something bad or evil.I think this because he likes to see people be tortured like he was born to be evil.
ReplyDeleteQ1: I think Black Stache is a villain, he is a villain because in the story he took over the Wasp and named it the Jolly Roger. He is a smart pirate because he can trick other people to think he and his crew are British soldiers. Like in the story Black Stache trapped all of the men left on the wasps crew and took the uniforms of the members of the wasp and put them on the pirate crew to wear. He also took over the Wasp and called it the Jolly Roger.
ReplyDeleteI think Black Stache is selfish and impatient because he said “Get me that trunk, now!’’ That “now!” part is the impatient part and the “ Get me that trunk’’ is the selfish part. His crew took care of the passengers that were on the Never Land and he just looked for the trunk. He is a guy who doesn't want to do any work, he just wants to find the trunk with the treasure. He is selfish because he only cares about himself and what he wants, not anybody else.
ReplyDeleteFor the read aloud book Peter and the Starcatchers in it I think one of Black Staches character traits is mean is because he tries to steal Starstuff from the Starcatchers.Another character trait is pouty because he over reacts over not caching the stuff that he wants not what he needs what he wants. And the last character trait is disrespectful because Black Stache shouts at every person that does something wrong or doesn't give him what he wants.He makes people walk the plank when they do something mean or wrong.Thats what I think Black Staches character traits are.
ReplyDeleteBlack Stache is a viallian in the story but that does not mean that he has no good character traits in him.He is smart because he threw the water ovver board to get his crew to work as hard as they could to catch the Sea Devil.I think he is hairy because of all that hair on his face.I also think he is crazy for attacking the Never Land because with Little Richard on board I would not want to even be on his ship. I think that Black Stache is greedy because he is worried that he may not find the chest. I think Black Stache is happy since he has what he wants (to be on the Neverland where he knows the trunk has to be). He will do anything to get his hands on treasure, especially one as powerful as the trunk.
ReplyDeleteSome of Black Statche’s character traits is that he is clever. I think Black Stache is clever because, in the book he tricks most of the people on the Never Land that his pirates, on the Wasp are Englishmen. By the time the Never Land’s sailors found out it was Black Stache’s crew, it was too late. I thought that was a really clever trick. He is also smart, he thought about keeping Slank alive, or killing him. Black Stache kept him alive, he had decided he was more helpful alive than dead. Black Stache has some intelligent character traits!
ReplyDeleteSome of Black Stache’s character traits besides being evil are…He is clever, because he knew that if he went after the Never Land dressed as pirates, the Never Land would freak out and run away. So if he went after the Never Land dressed as British Navy dudes, the Never Land would come to him and he’d get the trunk easier. He is also VERY greedy, because he is doing everything he can possibly do to get the trunk with the Starstuff, even if it means murdering people and sinking a ship.In my opinion, I think Black Stache is ugly because in one chapter, it said he has a big black mustache and black ugly hair. He is very SHORT-TEMPERED because he yells at Smee and everyone on his ship to do what he wants, and if they don’t, he throws them overboard!!

ReplyDeleteBlack Stache is bossy because it seems like he treats Smee and the crew like they are ragdolls. Black Stache has Smee and the crew get stuff he “needs”, and doesn’t let them have anything they want. Black Stache also does not let them finish what they are saying. He always interrupts them. Black Stache is one bossy dude! The second trait is sly. Black Stache is sly because his ideas to chase the Wasp for the trunk is a good idea! The last trait is determined. Black Stache is determined because he has ideas to get the trunk from the Wasp. But when he gets on the Wasp, he realizes that the trunk is not on the ship, he starts to chase the Never Land. He is not giving up on getting the trunk. Black Stache is pretty interesting.
